One of the Gold Coast’s original timeshare resorts has sold for $16m.
CYC, a Christian ministry education organisation, has bought the Cedar Lake Country Resort at Advancetown following a lengthy expression of interest campaign, with plans to run school camps from the site.
It was sold by Avanti Commercial under instructions from Simon Thorn and Bradley Tonks of PKF, acting as trustees, with the deal settling late last week.
The resort, which sits on a 35.72ha site, included 60 two-bedroom units, and was sold “as is”.

Avanti agent Lachlan Harris said he received almost 500 inquiries during the campaign, with 17 formal expressions of interest.
“We got expressions from developers, investors and even families with private money but it was bought by CYC, a Burleigh company,” he said.
“It is rare to get a property this size on the market, especially ones where the units are already built.”
“This was a highly contested process and anything which is already in built form and scope for immediate income has received a lot of interest.”
The complex features a three-bedroom house which has been used for the manager, a restaurant and bar, and guest amenities including tennis courts, swimming pool and sauna, children’s playgrounds and a mini-golf course.
The complex was described as “structurally sound and an excellent opportunity for a new owner to acquire a well-maintained and established property”.
“This lush, green expanse offers a stark contrast to the bustling coastline, boasting World Heritage-listed rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and unique ecological treasures,” the marketing material reads.
“It is here, where the green meets the gold, that the future of tourism lies, presenting an unparalleled opportunity for investment.”
